Poppy Braddy

Poppy Braddy is a Woven Designer, Material Researcher and Lecturer. She holds an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art and whilst completing her BA in Textiles in Practice at Manchester School of Art, spent time in exchange at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Rooted in the technical intricacies of Weave and a passion for Material Innovation, Poppy’s professional practice crosses a variety of discipline and industry borders. Continuing to explore innovative fiber research and development, Poppy has worked on a variety of collaborative projects including with Nanoloom, developing graphene-based textiles and Ertunc Ozcan (Turkey) and MIT (USA), weaving light emitting diodes for medical applications. In time spent with often overlooked and industrial materials, Poppy’s artistic practice involves re-searching, un-doing and re-presenting materials to change perceptions and how we value our material world. Poppy holds a strong belief that Textile and Material Design are a universal language with the power to change narratives, perspectives and systems.

Poppy brings fresh and contemporary experience and understanding of Education and Textile Design to the well-established and progressive course.
