Dr Sophie Wood
Dr Sophie Wood is an experienced fashion communications professional and academic. Before joining BCU in 2023, she taught MA International Fashion Marketing at Regent’s University and was the course leader for BA Advertising at University of East London.
Sophie is course leader for MA Fashion Communication at BCU and teaches across the programme, blending her theoretical and practical experience to help students become innovators in their field.
Her professional experience spans fashion buying, digital content, vintage clothing and social media, she has held positions at Arcadia Group, Old Spitalfields Market and Fenwick.
Academically, Sophie is interested in relationships to dress and shopping. Her PhD work examined individual’s material connections to their most treasured garments. Her current research examines the role of independent market places on local clothing cultures and the changing nature of physical retail spaces.
