BA Fine Art student Louise shares their inspiring experience on BCU’s trip to New York. From exploring world-renowned galleries like MoMA and the Whitney Museum to discovering hidden gems in Chelsea, the trip offered endless creative inspiration.
As soon as I booked to go onto the trip, I planned each day to be spent at a different area of New York, I was selective with what areas and museums I would visit; you can't waste precious time. There were two great museums and galleries that made the money and time so worth it, being the DIA Beacon and the Natural History Museum.

I went to the DIA in upstate New York; the only thing on my bucket list. It was magical. I saw sculptures only art lovers can see if you venture out that far up the Hudson River. The Museum of Moving Art trip with the tutors was unique and gave an interesting perspective from film history. This was useful to come home with to use as material for sculpture, film and performance. My Fine Art material has developed much further than what I could see in Birmingham.
The city life atmosphere is enough to go back again in a heartbeat. It's a shame it's 8 hours away, but that's why the opportunity to go with the university is the best part; you can meet people, make friends outside of your course and experience it all together. There's something for everyone there.
A huge thank you to the tutors who made the trip so enjoyable!
