Did you know we have the largest fixed green screen in the UK for our digital technology students to use? From CGI to creative films, you will have the chance to work on course projects using our TV Studio B.
The green screen has been used for filming TV commercials, TV promos, music videos, web presentations and the live-streaming of online entertainment shows. As a Digital Technology student you will have the chance to learn how to use the green screen to industry level. Discover our tips on how to best use this creative space:
1. Book your health and safety check
When you start your degree make sure to get your health and safety check booked in, this will enable you to use the space with confidence throughout your time with us. Our technicians we take you through the safety measures in place, so you can use the equipment and green screen in a safe and professional manner.
2. Get to know the technicians
Benefit from one to one help from our technicians and learn how to make the most of the space. Meet our Digital technology technician, Bruno Junior. Plus, out technicians have industry connections which is helpful when working on your final year project or when you are looking to get work experience.
3. Join BCU Film and collaborate
If you’re a Digital Technology student, you can use the space to collaborate with Film or Media students at BCU. Or, why not join the BCU Film Facebook group? With over 500 members it is a great way to work with people on a range of creative courses.

4. Get some inspiration
Many of our Digital Film Production and Visual Effects students have worked on their final-year projects in the studio, creating short films. Hear from Film student, Tayyib Mahmood, on how making the most of the facilities and equipment at BCU allowed him to further his skills and experience.
5. Gain industry skills
The equipment and use of green screen allows you to work and learn about facilities that are used in industry. This allows you to have the confidence and ability to begin your career in visual effects or film.
We also suggest you book the space in your spare time. Practise or develop personal projects and boost your portfolio so you are able to stand out from the crowd once you graduate.
