Seven ways you can learn more about our faculty

Find yourself starting yet another TV series? Why not spend your time connecting with us in the Computing, Engineering and Built Environment (CEBE) faculty?  If you are joining us in September, here are seven things you can do to beat the boredom and prepare to join us!

1. Follow us on social media

One of the easiest ways to know what we are up to is to follow us on social media. We provide you with regular updates on CEBE news, events and student stories as well as celebrating international days in the CEBE calendar. You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter

2. Explore our blog

Our blog features a range of student and staff success stories, so you can find out more about the subject area you’re interested in. Each school has a blog focused on content within that industry; Computing, Digital Technology, Built Environment and Engineering. It provides tips, challenges, student stories, advice and gives an insight into student placement experiences, so you can discover how our students prepare for their future careers.

3. Check out our YouTube Channel

The BCU YouTube channel has tons of videos that showcase what our CEBE Faculty has to offer, including a campus tour of our home Millennium Point and tips and advice on preparing for university and making the most of your time as a student. If you would like more of an insight into student life you can subscribe to the Life at BCU channel, created by our student vloggers. Here’s our Film Production Technology student Archie telling you how to prepare for University.

If you would like a reminder of some of our key facilities that you could have access to when you start in September, see our live Virtual Open Day tour from last year, with VFX student Janet.

4. Hear from our lecturers

We are proud to have a team of highly experienced lecturers. Their industry knowledge and professional achievements allow them to teach at the highest level, providing you with the knowledge, skills and industry links to begin your career.

Read about their career journey, areas of expertise and how they joined the University, as well as where to find them on social media:

5. Read our I AM BCU stories

Our I AM BCU campaign tells the stories of our confident, diverse and proud community of students across the faculty, and University, who are striving to achieve their career goals. Read our CEBE I AM BCU stories to find out how studying for their dream career has positively transformed and shaped their lives.

6. Take a look at the scholarships we offer

We offer a range of scholarships to help you with your studies. Each scholarship is designed to cater towards particular goals, whether this is to gain international experiences through our travel scholarship, or help you to kick start a career within the Built Environment, with our Building Birmingham scholarship. Find out if you are eligible for one of our scholarships.

7. Meet our employability team

Many of our courses will require you to gain a work placement or complete an internship, our employability team will support you through this process. They provide one-to-one sessions and application advice, as well as running mock interviews. Our team is highly experienced and their industry expertise will allow you to improve your employability opportunities after you graduate.
