What was your main motivation to study a postgraduate course?
When completing my Integrated Masters in Finance and Investment, I realised that we were not using the most efficient techniques to achieve the best results. In short, we could do better. When the MSc Artificial Intelligence with Fintech pathway came up, I knew that the missing piece was within my grasp. The combination of artificial intelligence techniques and financial understanding is incredible. I have already applied the tools that I have acquired to create little sub-projects that have streamlined some of the most arduous tasks in finance and I can’t wait to see what else I can do thanks to this degree.
What is it like being a postgraduate student at BCU?
I have found the experience challenging and insightful. Changing from a non-stem subject was like coming to a new university with new experiences and as a mature student I found it refreshing to be amongst so many diverse people with different skillsets. Being a postgraduate felt like a coming of age where independence and innovation were rewarded, and space was created for me to discover my unique abilities and test my theories in a supportive and collaborative environment.
What opportunities and support have you had to boost your career prospects?
I have found the careers team to be helpful and supportive. I have also been invited to several job fairs, offered opportunities to work with industry players and offer my skills out for knowledge transfer.
