5 reasons why you shouldn't miss our English Open Day

Open Days at Birmingham City University are the ideal way to find out exactly what it's like to study English here.

They are a great opportunity for you to experience a little bit of life as a BCU student and come onto campus to find out more about what we have to offer.

We have a great deal of information on our website, but there is nothing like an open day to show you how great your uni experience could be. Don’t believe us? Here’s five reasons why you shouldn’t miss our next open day:

See the campus

Take a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities and city centre campus, to see where you could be learning, plus explore places to eat and hang out with friends, but most of all get a feel of the place that could be your new home for the next three years.

You will be based in our £63 million pound Curzon Building at our City Centre Campus, which has bright and open learning spaces and a library that is open 24/7 in term-time.

Meet current students, past students, and lecturers

Find out about our expertise and range of course options from the people who know them the best! You’ll get unfiltered information and advice from students who can tell you what to do to succeed as well as what they’ve learned.

At our Open day, you can meet our team of teaching staff, comprised of published authors and leading researchers. You will also have the opportunity to sit in sample lectures, take a tour of our facilities, and have an overview of the department and courses.

Meet new people

Everyone walking around on open days is in the same position as you… so get chatting! Discuss your thoughts and opinions about the uni, and you never know, they might be your course mates in a year. And don’t be a stranger – start engaging with Birmingham City University by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and see what our students and staff have been up to recently.

Have a go at something new

We offer a flexible range of undergraduate courses in Language, Literature, Creative Writing and Drama, and a joint course in Media, giving you a lot of choice to study with us.

Discover more about the study abroad scheme, which provides you with the opportunity to take part in life-changing experiences while studying for your degree. During your time with us, you’ll have the chance to complete part of your studies abroad in one of many countries that are part of the scheme.

Explore the campus – and the city!

Join the walking tours of our campus accommodation buildings and see where you’ll be staying throughout the year (this is also a chance to show your parents where you’ll be living independently as a ‘responsible’ adult). Don’t just stop at our uni, make the most of the day and wander through the streets of one of the biggest cities in the UK. Experience the buzz of the Bullring and Grand Central, the culture of the art museums, the architecture of the Birmingham library, or even make it an outing and visit Cadbury World!

You can never leave a uni open day with less information than you started with and there’s no doubt you’ll be brimming with ideas and inspiration, so why not sign up now? See you there!
