This course is an inspiring mix of creative direction and styling, fashion or lifestyle writing and brand communication strategies, all of which will give you the skills you need to be a confident visual communicator. Our Fashion Design course is perfect for imaginative students who have a desire to work as designers, pattern cutters or product managers in the fast-paced fashion industry. You’ll learn design skills such as CAD, live fashion drawing, fashion illustration, fashion flats, styling and photoshoots, alongside contextual studies in fashion and related art and design.

On this course you'll experience the disciplines of print, weave, knit and embroidery, developing expertise in one or a combination of approaches. With an emphasis on experimentation, you will begin by developing core skills in design through exploring textile processes, visual research, colour, and composition. The foundation course is an exciting step towards your chosen degree and provides an opportunity to develop skills across fashion design, fashion business and textile design disciplines. It gives you a platform to share with and learn from others, while developing visual communication skills and processes, and building confidence and independence ready for the next stage of your degree.
After successful completion of your foundation year, you will have the flexibility to switch onto a number of related undergraduate degree programmes within the School of Fashion and Textiles.
