1. We have a multi-disciplinary teaching team
We have a range of staff teach on the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) course, including Speech and Language Therapists, Linguists, Psychologists and Physiologists. All with a wide variety of backgrounds, there will always be someone on the course who will be able to give you advice or answer your queries.
2. Facilities that are catered towards your study needs
We are constantly investing in new learning facilities, and have invested over £260 million into our state-of-the-art campuses and equipment. Staff, students and visitors particularly love our specialist on-site clinic, and SPACE (Skills Practice and Care Enhancement) facilities.
3. There's a diverse range of placement and extra-curricular opportunities
We have excellent partnerships with our local speech and language therapy teams, enabling us to provide students with placement opportunities across the West Midlands in both specialist and community settings. Our students also have the opportunity to volunteer with local organisations and apply for paid employment with the University.
4. We fight to make a difference
Our senior lecturer, Gillian Rudd, has been recognised by Edgbaston MP Preet Gill for her work on raising awareness of the ‘Bercow: Ten Years On’ report after the petition she launched asking Government to act on the recommendations reached over 10,000 signatures.
Our staff, students and practice partners were also recognised with Giving Voice awards in the 2018 Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists Honours ceremony.
5. The course has been running for 52 years
Our course is well established and has a history of successfully training speech and language therapists for over 50 years, so you are guaranteed excellent support, training and access to a wealth of knowledge.
6. 100% of our graduates go onto work or further study
Thanks to our course, our graduates have no problem finding work or further study after graduating! Students have gone on to work for a range of employers across public, private and third sectors, including: Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Talk Therapy.
7. We offer a part-time route too!
If you can't offer your full-time commitment to this course, why not try our part-time option? The course will be spread across a longer time period, and fees will be lower each year, giving you greater flexibility to manage other personal and professional commitments. Our flexible course means you can also switch from full-time to part-time or part-time to full-time to suit you.
