1

Online learning opportunities

The innovative approach to learning takes full advantage of the online and virtual technologies, and opportunities that have been accelerated by Covid-19, to provide a blended learning experience. This means that most of your theory element of this course will be delivered online.

2

This is a Health Education England (HEE) initiative

The blended learning MSc Nursing courses were created in partnership with Health Education England (HEE) and Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to establish a radical change in nurse education. Patrick Mitchell (Director of Innovation and Transformation for HEE) declared: “It shows the way to the future of educating and training our workforce, with the use of existing and emerging learning technologies.” It has also been described as a world-leading new blended degree, which will equip the next generation of nurses with that expertise they need to become nursing professionals from the very beginning.

3

This course is designed to be widely accessible

The design of a blended learning approach through digitalisation was set out in the NHS Long-Term Plan to maximise opportunities for students wishing to access nursing. When he was Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock said “It will open doors by providing more flexible learning options to attract a more diverse range of applicants.”
