Here are our top reasons to choose Nursing and Midwifery at BCU.
1. Specialist facilities
Over the last few years, we have invested £41 million into our City South campus in Edgbaston to provide specialist learning facilities for all Health, Education and Life Science courses.
Our learning spaces and equipment include mock wards, a home birth room and simulation manikins that allow you to practice real-life skills before going out on placement and into the workplace. We also have a place dedicated to helping you improve some of those key skills you need - SPACE (Skills Practice and Care Enhancement) - which is stocked with all you need to feel more confident when faced with real life service users.
2. We get you ready for employment
You’ll get hands-on experience of the profession you’re training for through a variety of placements, ensuring you’re ready for employment when you graduate.
And you're not alone when searching for the right place to carry out work experience. Our faculty Careers+ team are on hand to help you secure work experience and placement opportunities if they are a compulsory part of your course, or if you're just looking for some relevant professional work experience alongside your study.
3. Our courses are approved by professional bodies
Our undergraduate courses are regulated by professional body the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council). The Student Nursing Times Awards also named us Nursing Associate Training Programme Provider of the Year (pre-registration (in 2021) and Post-Registration Education Provider of the Year (in 2017) for our post-qualification courses that help you to continue your professional development.
4. You could be eligible for one of our scholarships

5. Earn while you learn
Our student employment scheme offers student jobs on campus, which allows you to apply for paid roles with us at the University, and gain valuable experience for your CV and future employment.
This is a great and convenient way to earn money when you need to alongside studying, by working for the University - for example at Open Days - and gives you the opportunity to use your student journey to help prospective students make the best decision.
