Why study a Sport and Life Science course with us?

There are plenty of reasons to study a Sport or Life Science related degree here at BCU. Find out the top reasons that make our courses worth studying!

1. Alexander Stadium

The Commonwealth Games lit up Birmingham in the summer of 2022, with the eyes of the world on the West Midlands during a spectacular festival of sport and culture. And now, one of the most iconic venues from the Games has become our latest specialist space - as our Sports and Exercise Sciences courses move into the world-class Alexander Stadium.

By moving into the Stadium, we’re helping to secure the legacy of the Games for the benefit of the whole city and region, ensuring that this world-class facility remains an integral part of the sporting fabric of the city and country for many years to come.

2. Facilities

Our Sport and Life Science courses have impressive facilities based across our Alexander Stadium and City South campuses.

As a Sport student at Alexander Stadium, you’ll have access to our sports therapy clinic, state-of-the-art Altitude Centre, physiology labs, DEXA scanner, bio-mechanics lab and more.

As a Life Science student at City South, you’ll primarily be studying in our microbiology laboratory. The lab is equipped with modern equipment for teaching the molecular biology techniques that underpin modern clinical and research labs such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines and a variety of cell-analysis and cell-culture tools. The department also has DNA sequencing equipment.
