Kay Dunn
Kay Dunn joined Birmingham City University (BCU) as a Lecturer in Law in 2025 having been a Visiting Lecturer there since 2021. Kay has legal teaching experience from the University of Wolverhampton and Queen Mary University of London in the areas of Intellectual Property law, Business Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law as well as specialist teaching in Copyright and related rights and Art Business Law at Queen Mary University of London.
Kay Dunn is also a Herchel Smith PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London, supported by Emmanuel College, Cambridge. Her thesis is researching the intersection of Intellectual Property Law and Scottish Indigenous Cultural Heritage through a social justice lens. This important research has allowed her to work alongside colleagues in developing the upcoming legal framework for implementing the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage within the UK.
Kay holds an LLB (Hons), LLM and PGCE (Post Compulsory Education) from the University of Wolverhampton and looks to submit her PhD thesis for examination in 2025. Kay is a Fellow of Advance HE.
Kay Dunn is the Editor-in-Chief of the Queen Mary Law Journal and was recognised as one of the University of Wolverhampton’s Inspirational Women in Law 2020. Kay is also a member of the Folklore Without Borders Network engaging with creatives in the cultural sector.
