Catherine originally studied Hospitality Management and joined the Trust House Forte Hotel group as a Graduate Trainee. Catherine then moved to Burleigh Court in Loughborough, responsible for all hospitality and event provision in this purpose-built conference centre. Catherine has also worked for several organisations responsible for the delivery of hospitality and corporate and promotional events, and the management of the event sales team.

After completing her teaching qualification Catherine worked for Tamworth & Lichfield College as a lecturer in hospitality. Catherine first joined University College Birmingham in 2000. She specialises in Events Management and is currently researching the effects of sustainability, CSR and Ethics in the events industry.

In Catherine’s role as Senior Curriculum Leader for Events Management she is involved in the planning and design of educational programmes. In September 2021 Catherine was appointed Senior Lecturer in Events Management and took a leading role in the design and delivery of innovative programmes including the Masters in Global Meeting and Events Management, which meet the needs of the learner and industry. As a member of UCB Teaching and Learning Group she contributed to the development of teaching and learning strategies to ensure compliance with academic and vocational expectations.

Catherine now is a Lecturer at Birmingham City University specialising in Sports and Events Management and delivering Hospitality modules.
