Dr Hui Wang joined the Birmingham City University in 2016 as a senior lecturer within the Department of Strategy, Management and Marketing (renamed as Department of Marketing and Leisure Economies). Hui earned a Ph.D. at the University of Portsmouth in 2010 and started his academic career afterwards. From 2010 up to now, Hui lectured at different universities and colleges in the UK. During this period, he has also accumulated a wealth of managerial experience by taking on the role of program manager.

Hui’s research is broadly focused on the role of marketing communications within interactive context, which correspond to the role of social media in interactive communications. Specifically the research explores dimensions of interactivity and their relative effectiveness across different media platforms.

Hui also has interest to work in the area that studies the impact of smart technologies on travel service operations. The main motivation is to reveal the underlying properties of smart technologies such as robot butlers, and exploit them for developing effective service marketing strategies, and further maximising customers’ perceived experiential value.

Additionally, Hui voluntarily acts as a non-executive director of EMSS (Engaged Management Scholars Society) GLOBAL LTD, London, with colleagues, to promote the innovation of Chinese business management theory and creation of management models suitable for China through studying business models and inherent mechanisms of Chinese and European enterprises, and integrating scientific research methods and the wisdom from the historic Chinese culture.
