Michael is globally recognized for his significant contributions to the field of mindful eating. As a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he spearheads initiatives aimed at improving students' well-being, with a dual focus on enhancing their academic achievements and employment prospects. His dedication extends beyond his role in Higher Education, as he passionately employs evidence-based practices. Currently, Michael is actively engaged in diverse research projects covering obesity, eating behaviours, mindful eating, mindfulness, self-compassion, and the impact of colouring books on mental health.
In addition to his research endeavours, Michael is involved in multiple projects centred around psychological tools and interventions designed to elevate overall health and well-being. His commitment to advancing knowledge extends to his role as an educator, where he imparts expertise across various topics in Psychology.
Drawing from his rich professional background, Michael previously served as a practitioner at a Military Psychiatric Unit and various military bases. Prior to this, he dedicated his time to volunteering at counselling and educational organizations. These experiences have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues in diverse settings and have contributed to his well-rounded approach in both research and practical applications.
Michael's multifaceted contributions underscore his commitment to the intersection of academia, research, and real-world impact. His work not only reflects his expertise in mindful eating but also showcases his dedication to enhancing the well-being of individuals on both an academic and personal level.
