Tom comes from a practice background having spent over 18 years working in industry across different sectors and occupying different middle and senior leadership and management positions. He also has experience in Business start-ups having successfully launched and managed businesses in the fields of education, consultancy, and manufacturing. Tom has worked in a variety of organisations (small, medium, large including multi-national corporations). He has also held the positions of Chair of the Board of Directors and Deputy Principal.

Tom has held several academic and leadership roles in Higher Education, and these include Senior Lecturer, Programme leader for International MBA, Subject Group Leader, Associate Professor, Head of Department and now Head of Business, Digital Transformation and Entrepreneurship. He has also served as chair of the board of trustees in a different organisation. Tom enjoys travelling and he has been to many parts of the world including China, New Zealand, Argentina, California, the Philippines etc., mostly on business.

He supervises several PhD students and has participated in some Erasmus+ funded projects with the last one, the AHEAD project involving 10 East African Universities. He also works closely with the Institute of Small Business Entrepreneurship (ISBE) where he has served for several years as track chair of the Entrepreneurship in Minority Groups. He is a member of the advisory board of the African Business Chamber – an organisation that looks after the interests of African owned Businesses in the UK.

Academically and Professionally, Tom holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship, an MBA and is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (AICSA). He also holds the Cert.Ed. Teaching qualification, and he is Senior Fellow of HEA.
