Centre for Enterprise, Innovation and Growth
The Centre for Enterprise, Innovation and Growth (CEIG) is a research centre dedicated to developing a stronger understanding of the foundations and process of growth and development in small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
CEIG works closely and collaboratively with SMEs to both enhance academic understanding of how firms grow, and provide guidance and analysis on their potential and capacity for development.
It serves as a hub for the wealth of expertise within the Birmingham City Business School, with academics specialising in:
- Business start-up and entrepreneurship
- Finance
- Management and governance
- Business strategy
- Innovation
Alongside delivering key academic outputs, publishing papers, winning research grants, and developing courses, CEIG also undertake applied practice and policy work. This involves working directly with firms, as key partners in the research process, and with varying state or lobbying organisations, including local authorities, Local Enterprise Partnership, and Chambers of Commerce.
