This May, Birmingham City University’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment will once again be hosting Innovation Fest, an eagerly-awaited annual 10-day gala that celebrates the creative talents of the faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate students.
This year’s Innovation Fest will be particularly special, as it marks the 10-year anniversary of the event. Every year for the past decade, Innovation Fest has built on its declared aims of contributing to the knowledge economy, increasing students’ employability and supporting entrepreneurial talent.
As one of the key aspects of the festival, undergraduate and postgraduate students from the faculty are invited to showcase their own innovative projects and demonstrate their application to current industry and global challenges. This offers a golden opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge, gain vital exposure and connect with potential employers.
A selection of the thematic areas in which visitors, delegates, employers and businesses can expect to see examples of groundbreaking work include:
- Computing - Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Media Technology, Data Analytics, AI
- Engineering - Manufacturing, Sensor and Control, Computational Modelling, Environment
- Built Environment - Transforming Building Life Cycle, Global Environment Challenges, Property Planning and Policies
Above and beyond its unrivalled reputation as a showcase for an array of exciting projects, Innovation Fest provides a unique platform for students to engage with commercial enterprises and network with industry professionals. By doing so, they contribute to their own advancement, drive development within their specialist fields and ultimately make a meaningful impact on society.
Innovation Fest 2023 runs from 15th – 24th May and will be hosted at STEAMhouse, BCU’s dazzling new £70m innovation facility in the heart of Birmingham that was officially opened in October.
