Nurture future professionals and strengthen your profile
Would you like to share your knowledge and experience to nurture emerging talent into career-ready young professionals, and develop your credibility as a mentor?
When you become a mentor on Birmingham City University’s Mentoring Programme, you will not only help our future graduates shine as they enter the world of work, you will also open opportunities to identify new recruits for your organisation, and strengthen your professional profile.
What is BCU's Mentoring Programme?
BCU’s Mentoring Programme offers individual professionals, employees, and leaders of businesses and organisations the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise as mentors, whilst helping to focus and shape career-ready BCU graduates.
¹Our flexible Mentoring Programme has been designed to work around your busy schedule, enabling you to deliver bite-sized guidance to emerging graduates for a minimum of 5 hours across a 10 week period.
How does the programme work?
When you become a mentor at Birmingham City University, you will receive training and guidance from our Mentoring Programme team to help you deliver the best possible support to one of our student or graduate mentees.
You will be introduced to your mentee who you will guide and grow over the 10 week programme.
Your support for your mentee can be shared through a series of catch-ups, either face to face or through our secure online platform, and they can be conveniently and flexibly arranged at times that work for you.
Though a minimum of 5 hrs is required for successful programme completion and support delivery, we do recommend that more mentoring time is given if possible, benefiting both mentee and mentors with their development.
