Finding Summer placements: podcast

So you're done and dusted with studying, and there’s quite a gap before uni starts in September. There's plenty of time to kick back and take it easy. You definitely deserve it, but you may want to consider investing some of your Summer time in your future. Our law students Katy and Georgia go through their recommendations for Summer plans in this podcast. Katy says: “I like to think about the bigger picture.”

You’ll find you have a lot of time off for the Summer, you may have completed your degree or be between years, but either way you might want to think about using this time constructively. Taking a voluntary placement is not only just good for networking and gaining some valuable contacts, it shows future employers that you have used your time wisely, and it looks good on your CV.

Georgia says: “This is the best time to get experience.” Both our students agree that you could really give yourself the upper hand by volunteering and networking during the Summer months, and it takes the pressure off you needing to do this when you get back to uni.

“Accept the challenge!” It may seem like more work when you thought you would just be relaxing during the Summer, Katy and Georgia managed that a little bit as well, however they say: “Get out there! Go find some stuff!”
