Dr Ambreen is a Lecturer in Computing at Birmingham City University (BCU). She teaches a range of computing disciplines including Smart Systems, Linux Operating Systems, Application Development, Introduction to Programming, and DevOps and Enterprise Automation.
She received her PhD from Staffordshire University in 2020, funded by the European FP7 WatERP project. Her research was focused on sustainable semantic interoperability and semantic validation of sensor data. During her Master's by Research degree from Cranfield University in 2013, she worked on a project by Jaguar Land Rover for test case automation. She has authored and reviewed many IEEE conference papers and Journal papers.
As a Research Fellow, Dr Ambreen led the research work on Smart Sensing and Processing for the 5G Connected Forest (5GCF) project at BCU. Funded by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the 5GCF was a multimillion industrial project for the historical site of Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest.
The primary goal of her role was to harness the power of 5G technology to support the live monitoring of forested environments through passive remote sensing for large data acquisition and analysis for forest health assessment and reporting [1]. She gained software and database development skills using the latest technologies through 4-year industrial work experience using the C#, Python, .Net framework, Eclipse, Java, SQL Server and Oracle.
Her research interests include data processing using deep learning methods, IoT-enabled efficient management systems, cloud computing, edge computing, knowledge engineering and semantic validation of IoT data.
