Beatrice is a lecturer/assistant professor in the Human-Computer Interaction Department.

She completed her PhD in Human-Computer Interactions in 2022 at City, University of London in the Centre for HCI Design. She was working with people with visual impairments and sighted companions to understand how they collaboratively navigate together and explore what could be alternative roles of AI assistive technology in the future. Additionally, after completing her PhD, she contributed to the ‘CoFAI: Codesigning Fair AI Interactions’ project in collaboration with City, University of London, University of Glasgow, and Fujitsu Ltd. Specifically, she looked at the role of end user in the development of responsible AI systems.

Before joining Birmingham City University, she was a Digital Futures postdoctoral fellow in the Interaction Design research group at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Here, she engaged with her previous work, and she explored the design of wearables to strengthen sighted guiding partnership through a soma design approach. The project engaged with people’s own body abilities promoting accessibility, diversity and inclusion, resisting the idea of a disabled body, and enhancing social justice.
