Dr Saeed Talebi is an associate professor at the College of Built Environment. Saeed's research interests focus on the intersection between theory and practice. He has led research teams as either Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on funded projects, particularly in the fields of (a) digital examination of critical infrastructure using emerging surveying methods and machine learning techniques, (b) Digital Twins to improve the design, construction, and operations of buildings and infrastructure, and (c) the application of AI to generate platforms in modular construction projects.

Saeed maintains an extensive network of industry partners with whom he collaborates on research projects, delivers R&D initiatives, and executes industry-driven projects. Saeed is currently leading projects funded by UKRI as well as industrial partners such as Network Rail and Court Collaboration.

With extensive professional and managerial experience in both the UK higher education sector and the construction industry, Saeed currently serves as the College of Built Environment Academic Lead for Teaching Excellence and Student Experience (TESE). In this role, Saeed oversees the development and implementation of strategies to enhance teaching quality and student satisfaction. He works closely with senior leadership to ensure alignment with Faculty goals, driving continuous improvement through monitoring, course content reviews, and student feedback initiatives such as the NSS.

Saeed is the Associate Editor of the journal Intelligent Buildings International and has served as a guest editor for various distinguished journals. He also acts as a referee for numerous prestigious publications and has served as a reviewer and lead assessor for national and international research initiatives. Saeed supervises a number of PhD researchers in the fields of the digital built environment and the circular economy.

Saeed is currently leading the development of a Digital Twin for the tallest building in Birmingham, digitalising the examination of masonry railway bridges, and addressing housing shortages by tackling the current shortcomings in the design and manufacturing of modular construction. He also holds the distinguished title of Visiting Fellow at Western Sydney University (WSU), an institution that ranks among the top 2% of global universities, reflecting his internationally recognised profile in research and teaching.
