Short course
AI for Data Analytics
This course will help you take your first steps into the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. You will improve your skills by using advanced principles of data analytics in order to create comprehensive insights which support fact-driven decision-making.
Overview
AI for Data Analytics provides an introduction to a variety of data analysis modes and practical examples of how Machine Learning (and its even more sophisticated cousin Deep Learning) can uncover valuable commercial insights from the information you have at your disposal. The skills you will learn represent an important forward step in your AI journey.
The course is designed in order that no prior programming knowledge is required, although some basic understanding of data analysis would be useful.
Learning Outcomes
Describe the data processing pipeline and how AI fits into this.
Understand Machine Learning and how it can be used in the field of data analytics.
Create and evaluate your own Machine Learning models.
Explore specialist architectures to create your own Deep Learning model.
Who would benefit?
This course is intended to support a variety of job roles, including Data Professionals & Analysts, Project & IT Managers, Database Administrators & Data Architects, Developers & SQL Developers, Data Scientists & Business Intelligence specialists. The course can also be undertaken by aspiring individuals wishing to move into the AI field.
Course in depth
This is a blended course. This means that there will be live tutorial sessions delivered online to inform and build your skills, and these are augmented with assignment activities to be completed in your own time.
The course is divided into three main units - Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Each unit is divided into theory and practical sections. Learners are expected to have completed the theory content for each unit prior to commencing the relevant practical session.
This course does not contain any formal assessment element but upon successfully attending and completing the course in its entirety, you will be awarded an official BCU Certificate of Achievement.
What is included?
-
Unit 1: Data Analytics
This unit is dedicated to data analytics as a field. It covers the core concepts and terminology used in data analytics, with a focus on the preparatory phases of data analytics and how these relate to AI and Machine Learning.
In the practical session, you will be introduced to Weka. You’ll learn how to navigate the interface, and how to handle, visualise, and understand datasets effectively.
-
Unit 2: Machine Learning
Machine Learning is an exceptionally powerful tool. In addition to its well-known data analysis purposes, it is also used for numerous other aspects of modern life like spam filters, video transcription, character recognition and personalised adverts. In this unit, you'll learn how to create and evaluate Machine Learning and understand how modelling and evaluations are carried out within industry.
-
Unit 3: Deep Learning
This unit will explore the more advanced type of AI, known as Deep Learning. By the end of this unit, you will know how to create a specific Deep Learning model that is able to analyse and assess photographic images.
