In the fast-moving world of rolling news and ‘always on’ social media, coming across confidently in a radio or television interview is a necessary skill for business professionals.
At this one-day Media Training course, we will teach you the techniques to put your message across succinctly and appropriately, as well as providing you with hands-on experience of being interviewed ‘live’ in our radio and television studios.
Learning outcomes
Have experienced live role-play interviews for radio and television in real studios.
Rehearsed various interview scenarios from gentle to hostile.
Gained an understanding of what journalists seek to gain from interviews.
Be prepared to face the media with confidence in your day-to-day role.
What's included?
You will learn the demands of different media, including face-to-face, radio and television.
Techniques will be taught about how to give yourself ‘thinking time’, how to get your interviewer on side, and how to get your message across quickly and succinctly. You will learn the secrets of being able to produce pithy sound bites, which make for an effective media interview.
You’ll also be taught how to respond to, rather than answer questions, so that you can begin to take some control of the interview.
The in-studio interview sessions that each learner will undertake will move from friendly to hostile, including crisis management scenarios, so that you feel prepared for a range of media interactions.

The course is aimed at professionals whose job means that they may be asked from time to time to give media interviews. It will help build confidence in being able to respond to media requests, as you will know what to expect and how to prepare.
