Stuart has been teaching adult education for over 20 years, including a range of FE and HE courses, with over 15 years’ experience delivering Initial Teacher Education (ITE) for both FE and HE teachers.
His work in Initial Teacher Education has involved delivery across a vast array of subject areas including vocational, academic and professional provision, supporting school, college, university, training provider, offender learning and healthcare settings.
Stuart’s current roles include Subject Lead PGCE Secondary (Social Sciences); Link Tutor for the University’s FES partnership provision; project lead for the ITE Mentor Support Programme for Primary and Secondary provision; International Dissertation Supervision – ITARI; and is also responsible for developing CPD training to local schools.
He also supports delivery on Effective Person-Centred Diabetes Education, APA/PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and PG Cert in Health Education courses, delivering sessions on adult learning theory, curriculum design and assessment.
Stuart is a member of the International Professional Development Association (IPDA), working on the IPDA England committee, and IPDA International Conference Committee.
He was Chair of the Faculty Academic Ethics Committee (FAEC) for the Faculty of Health, Education & Life Sciences for 4 years, and a member of the committee since 2014 for 7 years, reviewing over 800 applications for research across the faculty.
Stuart’s teaching experience includes working across the midlands and southwest areas, as well as teaching in Thailand, and his research experience includes both local, European and Vietnamese projects, including collaborating in the creation of 2 international conferences based in Ho Chi Minh City.
He is Vice-Chair and Safeguarding Governance Lead to a local secondary school, and a member of his local council’s Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee.
He is also a qualified England Rugby Referee and has been coaching age grade rugby for over 8 years.
