Practitioner Education Research Group

The core research mission of PERG is to interrogate and challenge dominant ideologies, practices and discourses in the field of teacher education/teacher learning.

One of the key purposes of PERG is to enable the communities we work with to become research engaged, knowledge producing, self-transforming and sustainable. We experiment with both methodologies and the outputs/disseminations of research to challenge the orthodoxies of conventional research processes and practices in teacher education/learning.

We are committed to collaborative approaches to research that blur traditional boundaries between researchers and the researched, our approach is most definitely research with rather than on - producing knowledge that seeks to foreground the challenges faced by education practitioners in a turbulent policy environment, and that seeks to position them and their interest as educators centrally.
