Chris has led the ‘Socially Distant Stories from Beyond the Screen’ research project, which is a cross-institutional approach to explore the impact of a hybrid theatre in education programme on the development of early career teachers. Linked to this, he is working with Big Brum and international colleagues on the ‘Creating Schools of Recovery’ project as the project’s lead evaluator.
Chris supervises a range of Masters students and Doctoral candidates.
Chapter contribution, entitled “Economies of Performance, Ecologies of Practice and Communities of Discovery: A networked Theatre in Education approach to support Early Career Teachers and their teacher identity” to the book 'The Power of Professional Learning Networks: Traversing the present; transforming the future'.

Chris was also involved with researching the relationship between drama and democracy in secondary schools as part of the Democracy through Drama project. This European wide project was in collaboration with a range of secondary schools, drama teachers and their pupils.
Chris also undertook some evaluative work on behalf of Big Brum Theatre in Education Company. The ‘Human Spaces’ project aimed to explore how Young people have been given a space to explore what it means to be human.
