Heather Whitehead

Heather has been involved with BCU for a number of years, beginning this journey as a Post Grad student several years ago herself following completion of a degree in early year’s education. Heather now works part time as part of the Primary education team where her focus and passion is English. 

Heather teaches on the BA undergraduate teacher training and postgraduate courses and is passionate about the teaching of reading, using creative and active approaches and the use of picture books as a stimulus for writing. She is also a personal development tutor, helping to mentor and support individual students whilst at BCU. 

Heather has many years’ experience of working in a variety of primary schools, mainly in the Staffordshire area and has worked as part of a senior leadership team, has been a key stage one-coordinator, student mentor and coordinated English, Science and Art.
