Paul works on the PGCE and SKE programmes for English as well as supervising students at Master's level. He also worked for 10 years on the Teach First PGDE programme - a work-based route into teaching. His subject specialism is English and he works exclusively with training English teachers. He has also got experience of supervising students working on various masters programmes. Paul taught for 30 years in secondary schools with a one year period teaching in a primary school. He was Head of English in three different schools and for 10 years was Assistant Headteacher with a focus on inclusion and teacher training.
For the last twenty years Paul has been a subject marker and Team leader for AQA English Language. This knowledge and expertise he uses to support the training of the new teachers he mentors. Paul has very good knowledge of the changing nature and challenges of the educational landscape, especially in relation to the teaching of English.
Paul works also closely with many Midlands secondary schools in training teachers of tomorrow. At the last count, he had worked 30 secondary schools and English departments. Paul sees the partnership with schools and mentors as being vital to the success of the teacher training programmes he works on.
