Emma is a Registered Adult Nurse with 20 years' experience working within haematology and oncology. During her time in practice, she gained experience in systemic anti-cancer treatment, later assuming the role of Lead SACT Nurse. Emma has also led and managed a SACT day unit alongside what was a newly established Acute Oncology Service.

Following this, Emma’s passion for cancer nursing continued, and management and leadership became a large part of Emma’s career. Emma was appointed to the role of Lead Cancer Nurse, leading a team of multidisciplinary professionals working strategically and collaboratively to improve patient experience and outcome.

In addition to Emma’s passion for cancer care, Emma also has a passion for teaching. Emma often delivered SACT teaching sessions for BCU’s popular SACT module, at the same time as working as Practice Development Nurse within a busy cancer unit. Later, Emma made the jump into academia as a Senior Lecturer and Pathway Lead for a pre-registration adult nursing programme.

Emma enjoyed her role, helping to shape the future healthcare workforce through education delivery. However, Emma’s passion for cancer care did not diminish and after four years in pre-registration nursing, Emma joined BCU substantively in 2023, allowing Emma to combine cancer care and education.
