Joanna O’ Brien

Having completed her training in Ireland in 2015, Joanna began her career as a theatre practitioner across a variety of fields, eventually specialising in plastics and general surgery.

Seeking a new challenge, Joanna then moved to critical care nursing and has worked across several specialist areas including liver and neuro intensive cares. She has a particular interest in end-of-life care in these environments which has led to her completion of MSc in Palliative Care, completing research into the education provided to critical care nurses to deliver end-of-life care. She also has a passion for pain management.

Joanna is a member of the Adult Nursing team and teaches on the field specific Medicines Management and Applied Physiology module for the Future Nurse Curriculum.
