Dr Yunpeng Jia

Dr. Yunpeng Jia holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from Chongqing University where he completed his final project under the supervision of Professor Yingzhou Huang. Following this, he earned a Master of Science in Optical Fibre Technologies, with distinction, from the University of Southampton, UK, under the guidance of Dr. Peter Shardlow at the Optoelectronics Research Centre.

Subsequently, he completed his PhD at the Photon Science Institute of The University of Manchester, with the title "Nanoparticle-Enhanced X-ray Detection." His research was supervised by Professor Richard J. Curry and was fully funded by the International PSI Scholarship.

Afterwards, from 2022 to 2024, he worked as a Systems Engineer at University College London in the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering. Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer at Birmingham City University, where he specializes in nanomaterials, photonic materials and devices, X-ray imaging, X-ray systems, X-ray detectors, dosimetry, and optical fibre technologies.
