Sean McIntosh

Sean has had an extensive and varied career as a clinical dietitian with a career spanning 10 years in multiple specialties ahead of starting a lecture position here at Birmingham City University.

Sean has worked around the United Kingdom starting in Leeds in 2013, completing Nutritional Support within the community setting. Sean's experience led him back to Birmingham where he began completing a rotational post within a large teaching trust in Birmingham before specializing in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in both the community and acute setting, before completing a role for the weight management and bariatric department as a specialist dietitian in 2015.

This role led to the further development of the weight management pathway and subsequent training for healthcare professionals in current evidence based dietetic interventions for this patient group. Sean also took on a role of student /new starter training within the trust before joining Birmingham City University in January 2023. Sean still completes some bariatric orientated dietetic support in the NHS and Sports dietetic consultations in the private sector.
