Job opportunities while you study

Student jobs on campus are up for grabs all the time, so while you are studying here in the UK you can gain valuable and paid work experience while you study. Many of these roles will rely on international students, especially if support is needed for more international based events.

Finding a job

The university is partnered with a recruitment agency, Manpower, who have an office in our Curzon Building. If you apply and are successfully offered a job, you will need to register with them in order to submit timesheets for the hours that you work. Another way of finding out about opportunities is to talk to other students! Just find out what other people are up to and speak to other international students.

Student Ambassadors

BCU regularly holds Open Days and events where students are needed to assist visitors - showing people around and helping out wherever needed. This is a great chance to be helpful and to mix with other students. Student ambassadors are still called upon to assist with things such as hosting, moderation and being part of panel sessions.

Schools and Colleges Liaison Ambassadors

These student ambassadors support the University by going into schools and colleges to run talks and activities for younger students who are perhaps considering coming to university. As an international student you will be able to offer a great personal insight as to what it is like to be a student at BCU!

Aimhigher Mentoring

This is another opportunity to get further professional training and experience in a school or college. This requires a small level of commitment to be involved. As a mentor to 13- to 18-year-olds you will have the chance to really inspire some of our potential new students. This will be invaluable experience for your CV and make you a better proposition for prospective employers in the future.

Vloggers

People all over the world want to hear just what it is like to be an international student at BCU! This opportunity involves being part of our vlogger and social media team so we can share your international university experience online. A chance to tell your stories the way that you want to!

International events

All sorts of events are taking place at Birmingham City University. Some events, like our International Summer School always need students to help out, and as an international student you are best placed to do this. Opportunities such as this, as well as others, will be recruited through our international office here at BCU.
