Birmingham City Council’s “Making a Mentally Healthy City” forum is in the process of developing a new strategy for mental wellbeing in Birmingham. This is ultimately feeding into the Making a Mentally Healthy City strategy and the Suicide Prevention strategy city-wide.

As a part of this scoping exercise Birmingham City Council has partnered with a consultancy organisation, ICECreates, to help undertake workshops across the city focusing on the experiences of specific groups in relation to mental health and wellbeing.

We want to understand what is important to local people, staff and students, to make sure their voices and experiences are at the heart of the strategy. For this work, we specifically want to speak to:

  • people who are living with a disability, long-term condition and/or neurodiversity (10:00am-12:00pm)
  • people who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and/or neurodivergent (1:00pm-3:00pm)

The Council is also conducting an open survey for all residents of Birmingham, which everyone is invited to complete. Complete this citizen survey to feedback on your experiences.

We want to truly understand: What are the challenges, opportunities, and needs that must be considered to support individuals and communities in our city to be mentally healthy and well?
