Wednesday 5 February Postgraduate Virtual Event
Join our Postgraduate Virtual Event on Wednesday 5 February to get all the information you need to kick-start your postgraduate journey. Find out more about the subjects we offer, how to apply and how to fund your postgraduate degree.
Who is this for?
It’s open to everyone, but it’s definitely for you if you:
Are a UK or international student who wants to find out more from the comfort of your own home: You might be too busy or too far away to come see us in person, so our virtual events offer the opportunity to get all your questions answered without having to leave the house.
Are a graduate who wants to earn more: Someone with a Master's degree or PhD earns £5,000 more per year, or £200,000 over a 40-year working life, than someone with just a degree (Graduate Labour Market Statistics 2023, Department for Education).
Want to study a postgraduate course at a modern university in a major city: We’re at the heart of the UK’s second-largest city with a population of over 1.1 million people. Birmingham is on course to be one of the 50 most competitive cities in the world by 2025 (Economist Intelligence Unit/Citi).
Want to study a course which develops your employability: Our postgraduate courses are designed to deliver practice-based learning and career-focused opportunities. We provide the chance to gain industry and professional practice experience through work placements, mentoring schemes and events.
Want to study in ultra-modern facilities and learning spaces: We are currently undertaking a £400 million investment programme in our facilities, including a major expansion of our City Centre Campus.
Are a friend, family or carer of someone who’s considering a place at university: You’re very welcome to log on to experience the event.
What can I do?
Enjoy a tailored and personalised experience: You'll be able to attend virtual subject-specific talks and sample lectures, and have the opportunity to chat with lecturers and staff to get your questions answered and see if BCU's the right fit for you. There are also general talks to get the information you need about finance and the application process.
Research different courses: Can't decide between a few areas or courses? This is the perfect way to do some in-depth research and compare a few courses, hearing from academics who teach each course and exploring what careers you could end up in depending on the course you choose.
Find out more about postgraduate finance: We know that finance and funding options are key considerations for postgraduate study. At our open event, you'll have the chance to attend informative talks and speak to staff about the scholarship and funding options open to you.
Find out about studying in the UK: If you are an international student, this is your chance to ask questions about studying in the UK, student life in Birmingham and more.
Find out about placements, careers and employability: An important part of choosing a course is figuring out what career options this opens up for you, and what employability is like in that field. We have a Careers+ and Graduate+ team to help you build your skills, and at our Open Event, you can find out about our Student Support team and what they can offer you at postgraduate level.
Find out about other services on offer to enhance your learning experience: Whether it's help with structuring your essays, referencing advice or just how to make the most of your time at university, you can find out more about those little extras that make all the difference at our virtual events. Our academics will explain how their roles are more than just teaching, and you can explore more of the library and student support services on offer.
