A group of student nurses from Birmingham City University are swapping their scrubs for a pair of trainers this week when they walk in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Staff and students from the Faculty of Health, will complete a 10.5 mile walk around Worcestershire this Sunday (1 July) in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice. They hope to raise £500 for the charity which provide care and support for children and young people with life limiting or life threatening conditions.
Student Nurse, Victoria Lynne, said: “Children’s nursing is the most rewarding profession. As child branch student nurses we get to meet some of the most amazing children and families. We attend placements across the West Midlands and some of us have been lucky enough to attend a placement with Acorns Children’s Hospice.
“Acorns provides tailored nursing care for each child, whether it is for a short break, emergency or end of life care. What’s more, Acorns relies on the community to fund the majority of its activities.
“A group of us have got together and decided to join the Walk for Worcestershire in aid of Acorns. This isn’t just about raising money, but supporting a local provider of children’s services and raising awareness of the wonderful things they do!”
