Laura Maguire

Laura qualified as a registered Children’s Nurse in 2009. She chose to specialise in neonatal nursing and worked as a Junior Sister in a busy Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. During this time, Laura’s particular interests were working as part of the bereavement team and in the provision of parental support. Laura has also worked in an orthopaedic post-anaesthetic care unit looking after both adults and children. This breadth of experience and the ability to adapt knowledge and skills will benefit students throughout their course.

In 2011, Laura completed the BSc Neonatal High Dependency and Intensive Care course at Birmingham City University and was awarded a Distinction. She has always had a keen interest in education and worked with the clinical education team to update and carry out a variety of assessments in practice. Laura completed a mentorship course in 2016 and has supported and mentored a number of staff and students throughout her career.
