Imran is a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University. He teaches on the BA (QTS) and PGCE Primary & Early Years courses. He is also a professional development tutor, research supervisor and lead mentor for school based placements. Imran is the Subject Leader for Religious Education and the Departmental Research Co-ordinator for the Centre for the Study of Practice and Culture in Education.

Research
- Imran is currently engaged in a range of research projects. He is researching a sample of SEND madrasah settings. With a colleague, he has completed exploring the emotional responses and experiences of Higher Education Lecturers in Primary Initial Education Training.
Postgraduate Supervision
- Imran supervises master's and doctoral students. He is interested to hear from students interested in his research areas. He is currently jointly supervising three doctoral candidates in Religious Education.
