Dr Iyan Offor is a Senior Lecturer in Law and leader of the Animals, Nature & Society Research Stream (Centre for Human Rights). Iyan conducts socio-legal and theoretical research on animals, nature, and society, focusing on global animal law, global environmental law, critical legal theory, posthumanism, queer theory, intersectionality, and law & literature.

Iyan recently published his monograph Global Animal Law from the Margins with Routledge and his other recent work has been published widely including in Transnational Environmental Law and the Journal of Human Rights and the Environment. Iyan’s PhD supervision and teaching is research-led, broadly aligning with his expertise in animal law, environmental law, global law, legal theory, and research methods. Overarchingly, Iyan is passionate about utilising his academic career to improve the situation of animals and nature within our societies.

Iyan is review editor for the Journal of International Wildlife Law & Policy, affiliate member of the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance, and a M4C panel member. Iyan has previously held positions as: global research fellow at the Center for Animal Law Studies; associate lecturer at the University of Strathclyde; and visiting lecturer at Aarhus University, Lewis & Clark Law School, University of Stirling, and Wageningen University and Research. Iyan has also held visiting scholar positions at the Center for Animal Law Studies (Lewis & Clark Law School) and the Global Animal Law Section of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.
