Harriet Carter
Doctoral researcher
In 2018, Harriet was awarded AHRC/Midlands4Cities funding to undertake her practice-based PhD. Situated between the School of Art and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire at Birmingham City University, her research examines the relationship between the auditory and the visual. The focus of Harriet's research has been fostered significantly from research undertaken on a field trip to the South of France collecting visual material from birdsong and the landscape.
Located in the Worcestershire countryside, Harriet's research remains split between notating birdsong and composing responding visual surfaces in the studio at home. Harriet’s practice-based research has informed her impetus of research-led teaching in Higher Education.
