Tamar Shiboleth
Doctoral researcher
Originally from the Netherlands, Tamar moved to the United Kingdom in May 2018 to begin her PhD studies at Birmingham City University. She has previously worked as a lecturer in social studies at Avans University of Applied Sciences, and as a family manager and youth probation officer for Child Protective Services in Amsterdam. Tamar worked with teens who have experienced sexual assault and have witnessed firsthand the difficulties these teens have when it comes to speaking out and finding the right (professional) help. These experiences motivated her to set up my current study.
Tamar's enthusiasm for research started during my studies at Utrecht University. Since then, Tamar has gained research experience at various institutions including Utrecht University, the Centre for Information and Research on Organised Crime (CIROC) and research group ‘Social Resilience and Public Safety in the Digital Society’ at Avans University of Applied Sciences.
