West Midlands Police Museum Archive Promotion

Birmingham City University and The West Midlands Police Museum are seeking creative designs to promote their archive and shift public perceptions regarding the West Midlands Police.

We invite university students and alumni to participate in a competition to design a visual language which can include still and animated graphics to form an identity for the West Midlands Police Museum Archive. The primary aim is to engage a younger demographic and raise awareness about the historical significance of the archive.

There are voucher prizes of £250 for first place, £150 for second place and £100 for third place.

Competition Guidelines

The objective of the competition is to captivate and engage the audience by creating visually appealing and informative designs that highlight the history and importance of the West Midlands Police Museum Archive.

  • Participants are required to create a visual language that will serve as the foundation of a style guide, which will be expanded and used as the graphic identity across all marketing channels.
  • Designs should encapsulate the essence and significance of the West Midlands Police Museum Archive.
  • Consider incorporating elements that resonate with a younger audience to make the Archive more accessible and engaging.
  • Entries will be judged based on creativity, visual impact, relevance to the brief, and potential to positively shift public perceptions.

Fashion Police

This unique research project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund aims to enhance understanding of the role of police in society.

In collaboration with the West Midlands Police Museum, experts and students in fashion and computing at Birmingham City University focus on the evolution of police uniforms throughout history by creating an easily accessible, digitised collection and an exhibition with community engagement to gather diverse perspectives and to make it accessible for all.
