This project hopes to increase the general understanding of the underlying perceptions of exploitation in order to determine the difficulties in these cases being reported.
Researchers
Research background
A project that explores lived experiences of different forms of exploitation and vulnerabilities/victimization risk factors, this research involves surveys conducted with the public regarding their understanding, perceptions and experiences of different forms of exploitation.
Research aims
The aim of this research is to enhance understanding of the prevalence of different forms of exploitation and to determine how the ways in which the public view of exploitation might impact the reporting and processing of cases.
Research methods
Using survey methods, researchers will collate responses which chart peoples' understanding of exploitation. Case studies are used to assess the ways in which different types of exploitation are viewed, and factors that influence likelihood of reporting and/or help-seeking in relation to exploitation.
Projected outcomes
The project hopes to identify the reasons and difficulties in reporting exploitation occurrences to authorities and to determine how the ways in which the public view exploitation might impact upon the reporting and processing of cases.
