Research background
This research was/is funded by Bangor University but continues in collaboration with Birmingham City University. This research is necessary as children fail to consume the recommended amounts of fruit and vegetables each day, although schools do provide access to fruits and vegetables at lunchtime. Provision is not equal to consumption, and children fail to select and/or consume fruit and vegetable options in both school lunches or from lunch boxes sent in by care-givers.
Research aims
The research aims to identify which nudges implemented in the school cafeteria yield an increase in fruit and vegetable consumption. We directly measure consumption, not simply selection.
