Stephanie Chua
As an international student from Malaysia, raised in a multicultural society, the topic of culture has always intrigued Stephanie. Moreover, culture and racial contexts are increasingly relevant in global society, therefore, she hopes to be able to advance knowledge in this area. Stephanie's research on cross-cultural differences in perceptual learning aims to adds to our knowledge of cultural diversity - reducing the misconceptions we may have of learning abilities across cultures. Recognizing the barriers to academic achievement will further our understanding of the diverse learning needs that exists within multicultural classrooms. Research in this domain can also reveal the nature of visual perceptual learning (VPL) and brain plasticity – subsequently contributing to the development of training paradigms to induce learning transfer. Stephanie is an aspiring psychologist who would like to further her my career in academia after she completes the PhD.
