Beyond the Doctorate: A Careers Series for Postgraduate Researchers

We are pleased to invite postgraduate researchers to the online launch of Beyond the Doctorate: A Careers Series for Postgraduate Researchers which we are piloting as part of the That's Me! Project’s Professional Development Hub concept. This series is open to all Birmingham City University (BCU) and University of Wolverhampton (UoW) Postgraduate Researchers.
The launch will be hosted by members of the That’s Me! team, Dr Eli Ashong, Huafeng Lu and Falah Atshan. The team will provide an overview of the That’s Me Project, which aims to address inequalities experienced by the Global Majority* in postgraduate research, and share how the careers series has been designed to support our Global Majority postgraduate researchers. An indicative schedule will also be released, and there be opportunities to share your ideas and ask questions.
This series is designed to guide you through career planning and development. Whether you're exploring opportunities in academia, the non-profit sector, or entrepreneurship, at home or abroad, you'll gain valuable insights and practical tips to navigate the job market. Engage with guest speakers in interactive sessions, panel discussions, and networking events across diverse industries. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your career horizons!
To sign up please use either your BCU or UoW email address. A link to the Microsoft Team's invite will be sent in advance of the launch. To sign up, please visit the Eventbrite page.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Any questions please get in touch with the BCU That’s Me! Project Manager amy.mckenzie@bcu.ac.uk.
