Sarah has always wanted to have a career in marketing, but it wasn’t until she decided to base her undergraduate dissertation on social media influencers that she realised she wanted to explore digital marketing at master’s level.

“I knew I wanted to have a career in social media marketing and ideally in a sporting organisation, so I was looking into postgraduate studies that would help me to expand my knowledge in digital marketing and advertising. The MSc Future Media course was recommended by my dissertation supervisor who identified that the course aligns with my interests and would help my professional development.

My passion for marketing and advertising had already grown throughout my undergraduate degree. Whilst doing a dissertation on social media influencers, I realised how much more there is to explore, and even though the decision I made about doing masters wasn’t the easiest, I understood the benefits of it on my own professional career.

A lot of what I’ve learnt so far has been expanding on the knowledge gained at undergraduate level, whilst also introducing new theories and concepts around the marketing and advertising areas. It’s a step up from a Bachelor’s degree which means working more closely with academics and developing more advanced research methods while focusing on a particular discipline. The course will build a solid base of knowledge and experience to achieve my goals.

From the day I had my induction at BCU, I’ve found all of my lecturers to be very approachable and there is so much support here if you need it. I know exactly where I need to go in case I face any difficulties. I’m also excited to see what my final major project will bring.
